Today our daughter Elizabeth had open-heart surgery to repair a fairly serious defect (see previous posts if you want to know more about her condition). After a nearly eight-hour surgery we are happy to share that initial reports are very positive. While there were some small, but scary moments, she seems to have come through in very good shape.

If you have been following our adventures over the past year, you know our youngest child, Elizabeth, has a complex heart condition. As we prepared for her birth this spring, we didn't know how urgently she would need the repair surgery, just that it would likely take place within the first year of her life. Well, the time is now.
