Mini Panda Post

The following is a guest post from the Baby Panda, giving his views on the events of the past few weeks.  Enjoy!

Baby Panda Log: Day 1

Today I was abruptly pushed out of my nice, warm home and into a bright, loud room. The best part of the whole experience was actually seeing the woman whose voice was constantly in my head for the last 9 months. She called herself "Mama" and I think that name suits her well. As I was laid on her chest, she told me how it was so nice to finally meet me. Her voice was very calming and comforting. Eventually a person named "Daddy" picked me up and held me for awhile. I was not as sure about hanging out with him at first but he quickly won me over!  Mama and Daddy seem to be cool people and I have no doubts that I will soon be able to bend them to my will.  Keep you posted!

Baby Panda Log: Day 2

Today Mama told me that we might "go home" today. I do not understand this "home" place but I am told it is nice. I was also told that the village where "home" is houses a Baby Panda Fan Club. I am VERY excited to meet these people. Anyone who adores me is good in my book!

Baby Panda Log: Day 3

Today I was informed that we were not going home today as my skin was too yellow. I thought that was a rude thing for the midwife to say as I was told people were not supposed to judge one another by the color of their skin. Mama sang a song that Jesus loves all the little children, even the ones with yellow skin, which proved my point. The good thing is about having yellow skin is that I get to spend all afternoon on Mama's lap sitting in the sun. I will have a great tan by the end of all this!

Baby Panda Log: Day 4

I have decided that my favorite thing in this strange new world is eating. I have discovered the Bearer Of Optimized Beverage, or as I like to call it B.O.O.B., makes a delicious 2016 vintage. Mwah! Perfecto!!  I am bummed that there only appear to be two of them on this planet. I shall bring this up to the leadership at our next meeting.

Baby Panda Log: Day 5

My days have settled into a nice routine. I sleep most of the day, when I am not partaking at the B.O.O.B., basking in the sunlight safe and secure on Mama's lap. When the darkness appears, I find myself full of energy and wanting to explore this new world. I don't understand why Mama isn't OK with this plan. I vow I will try harder to convince her my routine is worth keeping up.

Baby Panda Log: Day 6

Today I am told we can finally go home. This comes after multiple people in blue scrubs have demanded blood from me, which is not nearly as horrible as being weighed.  No clothes, no diaper, no dignity! Oh the humanity!! I protested at the top of my lungs but to no avail. This is a cold planet, both literally and figuratively.

Baby Panda Log: Day 9

This place called "home" isn't half bad. I have spent the last couple of days sleeping, mostly in Mama's arms as I don't like the thing she keeps trying to force me to sleep in, something called a Moses' Basket. I spend most nights wide awake and loudly protesting any attempts to change my diaper (again, why must I be exposed to the cold air for anyone to see?!?). I don't understand why Mama and Daddy protest staying awake with me. I feel I'm a fun person to be around!

Baby Panda Log: Day 10

Tonight I went to church. Daddy said it is important to attend services as often as possible. I don't really remember anything about the service he called Good Friday as I slept through the entire thing. I must say that nap was fantastic! I like sleeping in my carseat much better than the Moses' Basket. I vaguely remember many people talking to me and touching my hands and I thought about waking up to bask in their attention but ultimately decided to keep my eyes closed as I found that my Fan Club made more nice comments about me when they thought I wasn't listening!

Baby Panda Log: Day 12

I am told that I must wish everyone a "Happy Easter" this morning. I don't know what that means but I decided to start that at 5AM. I know Mama was very appreciative of that! I went back to church this morning. Again, I slept through the entire service and more of my Fan Club came by to lavish attention on me. There were more members today and at one point Mama ended up being pushed 3 pews back as the crowd around me was so big! I think I'm going to like this "church" thing…

Baby Panda Log: Day 15

The past few days have been filled with meeting multiple family members via a camera on Daddy's computer, sleeping, eating, and visits from the community midwives and Health Visitors (i.e. more blood draws and scale time). I feel that I am settling into a fairly good routine. I nap many times during the day and then insist that Mama keep me company from 10pm to 2am. She is not too thrilled with this plan…    This afternoon I went to church again. The adults in the congregation ate lunch while I slept in my carseat. My Fan Club was there, adoring me as usual. I could certainly get used to this treatment!

Baby Panda Log: Day 16

Today I went to the American Consulate in Belfast to get a passport. Mama and Daddy say this will be very important for this summer. The people there were not part of the Baby Panda Fan Club but were nice none the less! I did enjoy the car ride and slept through the entire trip.

Baby Panda Log: Day 18

Today I went to a place called IKEA. Daddy was super excited by this trip. Evidently it's one of his favorite stores. I didn't really see what the big deal was but I got to spend most of the trip cuddled on my favorite place, Mama's chest. Not only did we buy some small household items, Mama and Daddy met up with some people who promote baby wearing. They let us borrow something called a "Stretchy Wrap". I like it. It keeps me warm and secure on Mama (or Daddy)'s chest.
