Simple Joys - Part II

Fall in Princeton. Seminarians gather on the quad for study and conversation.

Yesterday afternoon was delightful.  My last class for the day wrapped up by 2pm, and I had until dinner to study and spend time with friends.  I knew that I didn't want to spend such a beautiful afternoon sitting inside, so I walked to the quad and found a bench.

Over the next three and a half hours I read church history, enjoyed the gorgeous weather, and took part in many wonderful conversations with friends.  One of the great things about sitting on a bench on the quad is that people will stop by for a few minutes, or an hour, to say "Hi" and ask how you are or to talk about the lecture from earlier that day or just to enjoy the day together.  Over the afternoon I shared in the joy of a letter from home, concerns over classes, and many good stories.

I may not have gotten as much reading done as I had hoped, but I headed to dinner refreshed and renewed.  In the middle of the craziness that is seminary it is a true joy to find moments of rest and peace.
