The First Post is Profound
Over the past few months I’ve been doing a top-to-bottom refresh of my web and social presence. I’ve moved my longstanding personal social media pages more private and created new, more public-facing pages and profiles to share my ministry work and reflections more broadly.
There are a number of reasons for this change, but it is primarily about the privacy and safety of my family. There are times I want to share updates with family and friends about cute kid things, but those are not for public consumption. The unfortunate reality is in my role as a pastor of a moderately large, very visible congregation, sometimes I get a level and kind of attention that isn’t wholesome — and I want to shield my kids and family from that as much as possible.
There are many things I’ve posted here in the past (including lots of family photos) that have been moved to a more private space — if there’s something you want to see, reach out personally and I’ll be glad to share! Moving forward, I’ll be focusing this space on my reflections on faith and how we can live as followers of Jesus in these complex times.
I hope you will find it helpful! Grace and Peace, Chris
ps - A note on the title. One of my long-time favorite internet folks is Merlin Mann, and he has shared a number of times his wisdom about notebooks and the need to overcome the pressure to say something profound that makes buying a “nice” notebook somehow worth it. He suggests writing “The first page is profound” in every new notebook to get over the hump. It’s worked for me on paper, so I figured it’d work here, too.
